Hayashi Shotaro 林正太郎

Born in 1947 in the city of Toki, Japan, Hayashi Shotaro is a famous Japanese artist specializing in ceramics. He is famous for his masterful Mino glazes, such as Shino, Oribe, and above all, he is the contemporary pioneer of the uncommon “Manyosai” glaze. He received the Prefectural Award for Intangible Cultural Property Holder from Mino Prefecture. Its robust forms are complemented by a soft glazed surface that invites the viewer to savor the pleasures of the Shino technique.
